i almost had a baby last night (x-posted in March due date club)

semi regular contractions (1 every 5-10 minutes)...enough to stop me from talking. we got everything set up. charged the camera. put the baby clothes in the oven (we're doing UC), put rags in the slow cooker for warm rags. lit some candles. walked around in circles and had some loving touch to help things along....

but no baby today.

around midnight I decided to get some rest since I was tired. Contractions kept me awake (or dreaming about them) all night, but petered out this morning around 7.

No active labor. No baby.

Is this what prodromal labor is like? I've never experienced anything like that. I was almost certain the baby would be here this morning.

Now I'm feeling a lot of pressure in my pelvic region, (like the head IS engaged) but only a handful of contractions since this morning.

anyone experienced anything like this before??

Yup. I had lots of that starting at 36.5 weeks. My baby didn't show up until 42w3d, but she was in a really bad position. Hopefully yours comes sooner.

Same thing with DD...It went on for a few days before true labor started.

Stayed around 7 minutes for three days and then two days at five.

Don't get discouraged! Just relax.

With my second this went on every night for 2 weeks. I was so tired of it by her due date that the next morning I drank the castor oil shake. Had her by 2 pm.

With my last birth my water broke at 8 am. I had immediate intense cx in a good pattern. As soon as the midwife and my mother arrived everything petered out. I had a few intermittant cxs through the day, none very strong. Midwife went home, mom and all the kids went to bed, then things finally picked back up. I figured I just wanted to be alone w/dh... Had the baby around 4 am.

I'm in your ddc, and I had the same thing last night. I was having regular, painful contractions every 4-5 minutes. I called the doula and midwife to put them on notice and asked dh to come home. I got the house picked up, made my labor brownies, and we started filling the tub. But then I got super tired and wanted a shower. After that, I laid down, and the contractions spaced out a little but remained intense enough to wake me when I had them. Eventually they stopped and I got a good night's sleep.

Today I was feeling discouraged, but I think baby being posterior (though in my pelvis) had something to do with everything stopping, and the fact that baby is so low also made everything feel more intense. I have to remember that it will happen in time.
