Dyeing diapers and dyeing grownup panties

Thread Starter
I have some 95% cotton/ 5% spandex blend panties that have a lot of life left but they look a bit... dingy. I was thinking if I dyed them a dark color like black (or even tie-dye!) I could get a little more use out of them. So I figured this would be a good place to ask how to do that, since I know some WAHMs have funky dyed diapers.

Any recommendations? What product to use? How to do it? I've never dyed anything before. Can I make them all black? Would it rub off on me? Would the lacy trim come out a weird color? How do I wash them and when would I know they were OK to throw in the regular wash again?

TIA... sorry for the weird question!

Firstly, I am going to strongly 2nd Junipervt's advice on RIT.

You can use fiber reactive dyes to dye your panties. You can get some at Dharma Trading . Also, many fine art supply stores carry the Jacquard brand of FR dye. Which is what Dharma uses but they create more colors by blending colors, but I digress.

Most likely the lace on your panties will not dye unless it is made of a natural fiber. It may lightly stain but not get dark. Something else to think about is the if your panties have any, eeh-eem, stains on them, this will affect how the color absorbs there.

Fiber Reactive dyes are washfast so they won't rub-off on you. The dye actually bonds on a molecular level with the fiber, becoming a permanent part of the fabric. Dharma has great directions for using their dyes. Whether you want to do solid colors or tie-dye. If you have any questions, feel free to convo me
