We co-slept with them from birth, but have had sleep issues with both of them ALWAYS. I nightweaned my son a few months ago (2 in July), and I made them their own room with cute bedding, and their own toddler beds. Problem is, we have one bedroom downstairs, and one upstairs. DH and I didn't feel ok with them being downstairs alone until they were both STTN, so he has been sleeping on the couch.

Well DS wakes up at 12, 2, 4, and 6, and wants to lay with DH on the couch, and my DD 9(4 in July) comes and joins him on the couch at 4 also. He can't lay them back in their beds because they will freak out and scream. So he gets no sleep, and sleeps with both kids on the cramped couch with the dog.

We tried putting a gate up- they climb over it. If Dh came upstairs they would just stand by the door to our upstairs and scream and cry for hours.

WHAT CAN WE DO!?!

We have a baby due in October and would like these issues resolved before then hopefully.

I swear the only babies I know with horrid sleep issues were the ones who co-slept I don't condone CIO by any means, but WHY do all of those babies (whose parents claim they just cried for a few minutes a couple nights) sleep from 7 to 7? I know a TON of babies and stories like these from close friends. Frustrating.
