7 Wk. old with hives and eczema

X posted in Health and Healing. Please advise: My baby has been with this for over a week. He has small pimples on his cheeks and around the mouth. His stomach is clear, his arms have some pimples too, but his back is horrible - red bumps around. He has red in his diaper area, not pimples and we CD.

I guess there could be food sensitivity here. I'm off all milk and wheat. Do I need an elimination diet? (With Kosher, I know there's no lactose etc... in anything.) I'm also double rinsing everything in the laundry, and using Nature Clean detergent.

Where do I start? I don't have internet at home, so no time to read websites and too much more info. I get to an internet place every week, so my time is limited on-line. (With 4 little ones I need practical advice, although by nature I like to research, but no time now!)

How long do I go off each food item? Which foods first? Would spices have more than what's written on the label in them? Onions and Garlic refer to raw only, or also cooked such as in chicken or veg. soup? I eat very little processed food, most is home made.

Also, what can I do to relieve the pain he I assume has? I have been giving him oatmeal baths daily. Should I put some ointment on him? I'm ordering some Calendula ointment now, but I have Calendula tincture and Coconut oil, and some other stuff. What should I put on him, and how often?

Thanks so much to anyone who will respond, Ana

I would say go with dairy first but make sure it's completely out of your diet (there's a lot of hidden dairy in other foods). If you're still having issues you can try an elimination diet. We've been battling with excema and food sensitivites since ds was born 8 months ago. STOP bathing him everyday. It just dries the skin out thereby making the excema way worse. We bathe ds maybe once a week. He gets a little wipe down with a warm wash cloth but unless he has some huge poop explosion he doesn't get a bath that often. Be careful what soaps and lotions you use as a lot of them have alcohol and perfumes. We use olive oil in his bath when we do bath him (and we're also pretty quick about it). We use a combination of olive oil, evening primrose capsules and pure shea butter. The EPO oil we use 1-2 capsules once daily as recommended by his pedi. This helps with the inflammation and so does the olive oil. I apply olive oil several times a day to his entire body. I also put him in long sleeves and pants to keep as much moisture in as I can especially now that he's crawling. Pure unscented shea butter has worked MIRACLES for us. I use it 2-3 times a day as well in combo with the other stuff. I know you said you don't have internet but I do have a site that might be of some help. I'll pm you since the name might be a uav violation but it is very fitting when describing the stress of food allergies and elimination diets lol. I hope this helps.
