...for my husband's job. What do I need to know? I've never set foot outside of the US and I don't know much about Australia, but we're very excited!

I know this is a bit late, but I think you will find the Alice to be a complete & total culture shock. Definitely do the research before you make a decision. (but of course I am a confirmed coastal climate girl & could never imagine living in a place that small & dry!)

Alice Springs

This is even later, but I wonder if you've already moved to Alice? It's hot and dry but beautiful country. You'll be able to find a tribe if you are pro-active about it. There's even a Steiner school there. There are plenty of Americans because of the US military base....
