Who pays for DNA testing? - Page 2

"As far as who 'should' pay, I think it should be divided equally between the parents."

Oh wait, are we talking about what's fair and morally sound? Because I thought we were talking about child support

Totally, both parents "should" contribute equally to the rearing of their children, in whatever combination of $$ and caregiving works out best for them. In a perfect world...

IIRC ( and I could be wrong) in AZ, the way that CS Enforcement handles it is that the paperwork asks who the bio dad is and then the test is completed. If the paperwork is correct and bio dad really is the bio dad, then bio dad pays for the test. If paperwork is wrong and baby mama isn't too terribly sure who the baby daddy is...then baby mama pays for the test. As for how the courts handle it, I don't know. I would guess that the cost is split but I don't know for sure.

That is what I thought it was, I cant really find a clear answer, I need to ask a lawyer or someone in the field in my state to be sure. I doubt it will come to much. I regret not doing it sooner, really regret it, but really was in the mindset of no drama for DS's childhood. Now I have a cell phone number, but I am not sure that is enough to find him.

i didn't read all the replies.

I hired a lawyer and i paid for DNA testing with the agreement that if ( and when) it turned out he was her bio father he would be help responsible for the costs i incurred.

had i gone and gotten a court order the court would have covered it. but if i can stay out of court i will.
