I'm not sure what's going on with DD, 15 months old, and it's distressing for DH and me, if not for her.
She spends the first chunk of the night in her crib in her room, as she's done for the last several months. When she wakes up, she cries a little bit and one of us goes in to get her. I stick my boob in her mouth, give her a cuddle, and we all go back to sleep in the big bed. No biggie.
BUT! She always wakes up at least once more in the night, and when she does, she wakes up SCREAMING. She never used to do more than whine a little, but now it's full-on terror. She does not do this when waking in her crib, only in our bed. She's not always hungry, but a nipple or paci usually helps her calm down, along with hugs from mommy or daddy. It doesn't seem like she's fully waking up, either. The whole thing only lasts a few minutes, and she seems fully rested and cheerful in the morning, but it's really disruptive and upsetting for us.
She's 15 months old, just finished teething her first set of molars, and just got over about a month of being sick, first with RSV, then an adenovirus. She slept with us full time when she was sickest.
Is this just bad dreams? Something else going on?
ETA: might it have something to do with the time of night? It only happens later, at least 6 hours after bedtime.
