best zinc supplement recs

I am pretty sure that I am zinc deficient.

I failed the beet pee test (which I took to get a better understanding of the cause of my digestive problems) and I have white spots on some of my nails.

I am trying to eat more foods that are high in zinc, but I already eat a ton of them and that doesn't seem to be working.

So, I'm looking for a good supplement but am totally confused. Do I want zinc picolante, ascorbic, chelated zinc, with copper, without copper... And, which brands are good? Can anyone help me?

Thank you!

You don't want it w/copper. They interfere with the absorption of each other. All other minerals interfere w/zinc so give it away from other supplements that contain minerals. I believe based on my research that optizinc is the best form. You can google and read up on it. Here's some information. http://www.interhealthusa.com/Ingred...-OptiZinc.aspx It's methionine-bound zinc and is absorbed so much better than other forms as well as doing other good things. It's all I'll use now.

Thank you so much for your reply. Any brand recs?

Just make sure you're getting optizinc alone (without other minerals) and it is optizinc. Brand shouldn't matter-the optizinc all comes from the same place--it's a registered trademark. We used vitabase for a very long time and I think I'm using pure encapsulations now just because I was ordering other stuff from them but really I don't see how it would matter.
