Costume ideas for preggie?

Thread Starter
Anyone have any cute ideas (read: easy to prepare from what's around the house, or not expensive to purchase) for a preggie person to wear to dress up?

Someone suggested a kangaroo, which I thought was cute, but not easy to figure out on a budget!

TIA

Kangaroos are brown. So if you have some brown pants, like cords that fit you and a brown long sleeved top,a hoodie with the pocket would be super that could be your costume.

I knew a girl who was a pregnant nun once.

I was a Magic 8 Ball for Halloween. I made the front thing from a sewing hoop, a paper plate, and aluminum foil and wore a big white circle with the number 8 on my back. Just wore black leggings and a black maternity dress. The "message" in the "window" said "Signs Point to 'It's a Girl'" because I had just had my ultrasound. In retrospect, I'd probably make a T-shirt with the fake window on the front. The sewing hoop started to get annoying.

I'm not a big costume person, so I would probably do something subtle... a few months ago, someone posted about seeing a t-shirt that said "Watermelon Smuggler" on it
So yeah-- I would probably go as a watermelon smuggler.

A cow!

Thats what I went as the year I was pregnant with DS... sat on my moms porch handing out candy as a cow.

How appropriate is that though? lol... after all before long you will be producing milk

Outfit: white sweat pants, white sweater with felt spots all over me (I didnt want to ruin the outfit) and little ears I made out of a little bit of white felt, a little bit of pink felt and a headband.

We went to a movie themed costumed party and dressed up as Juno! I used things from my own wardrobe (jeans, sweatshirt), but my husband had fun and got some short running shorts from American Apparel!

I have always wanted to go as a snowball.

When I was pregnant, I went to a Saturnalia party (Roman solstice/harvest party) dressed as the Virgin Mary.
My husband went as the holy spirit.

It was very irreverent, but we got lots of laughs.

Sew a little plastic hoop onto your shirt top and make your belly a basketball.. go as a three pointer.

Your dp could wear a tshirt that says, "he shoots, he scores!" or something similar..

You could wear a box and go as an oven.. with a bun in it.

I would really want to wear a shirt that says something about failing sex ed class.. I see students wear the "ghetto report card" (which I hate by the way) shirts, I bet I could whip up something similar..

I always wanted to go as a nun, but the timing never worked out.

When I was due in early November DH and I dressed up as Anakin and Padme Skywalker. I had a pretty empire-waist dress that I wore and I did my hair up in curls.

If you wanted to be a kangaroo, I'd get a cheap doll with a hard plastic detachable head and a cheap shirt and sew/tape/glue the doll's head to the shirt. Kangaroo-mom.

It's not as creepy as it sounds. When DS1 was a few weeks old and it was very cold here, he insisted on being worn facing forward and would stick his head out through the buttons of my coat and that's exactly what we looked like.

A Greek Goddess? Hera (marriage and family) or Persephone (fertility) fashion a toga out of a white sheet, get a large gold pin to fasten it at the shoulder, two large gold clips for your hair, or even a floral wreath...

I was going to be a mummy for Halloween right before my daughter was born. I was just going to wrap myself in toilet paper Then she was born the morning of the big Halloween festival here so it didn't work out

The haloween before DD was born, DH painted my belly like a giant eyeball (she was due in early November). I also wore long green skirt under the bump, a cape and some random face makeup (and a shirt that covered the upper part of my torso, natch).

I think that a round belly painted like a globe would be cool.

My sister dressed up as a peanut m&m when pregnant. Just a yellow t-shirt with a "M" painted on it, black pants and white gloves.

I wore this when pregnant with DS. Everyone loved it! I had ordered a shirt online but it didn't get here in time, so I just cut out the pattern and used an iron-on adhesive. When the real shirt got here, mine looked nicer! I hope I get to wear it this year. Halloween is only a week before I'm due!

My favorite preggo costume, though it's probably two years too late now, was Bristol Palin. My friend did it at the height of the campaign and all of that Levi nonsense and it was HILARIOUS!

I was a fried egg (sunny side up). I wore a yellow t-shirt and made the white of the egg out of a fleecy felty material. I cut a hole out for my bump (egg yolk). It was really cute!
