When you have to put the baby down...

I have to go to my midwife for a check-up in about a week and I'm just wondering what to do with the baby. We have a convertible car seat, not a bucket so I can't bring the car seat in and put him in that. I'm guessing I can't be wearing him when she's doing the exam. What should I do???

I've held ds on my lap/chest for several exams. He nursed through my 6 week pp vaginal check. I've also used my sling as a place to lay ds down. And nurses are often happy to hold a baby for a few minutes.

hold baby up on your chest.
or perhaps you can have a nurse or other office person (or a friend come along) hold her for you. I've found there are usually LOTS of people who'd love to snuggle a little bity one. Even if it's just for the couple of minutes during the actual exam part.

(what I've yet to figure out, is what to do with babies (especially mobile ones!) while I'm trying on clothes... tops specifically.)

That's a good one. I just stopped trying them on. So not a lot of shopping has gone on in the last 4 years.
