What was this medicine?

When I was 4, I had to get a bunch of dental work done (lots of fillings and a crown). I used to have to take some kind of medicine, it was pink and kind of thick, and I had to take it with dry toast only. As far as I know it was responsible for knocking me out so they could do the fillings.

Anyone here know what that could have been? This was in the year 1980.

I had a similar medicine only it was bright yellow.
It was probably in the mid to late 70s. UGH!!

Doesn't it make you wonder what the heck it was?? What was in it? My mom cannot remember. I don't think there'd be such distribution of something like that these days, KWIM?
