well, now what do I do? Toilet cleaning.

So, I'm 9 months pregnant. I usually keep my toilet clean by the daily swish/swipe method, which does pretty well. I usually don't even need any cleanser or whatever. Buuuuuut.... I wasn't keeping up with it well, b/c of the pregnancy, I guess. So, I broke down and had DH pick up one of those icky pellet things that you stick in the tank and it supposedly keeps your toilet clean for a few months or whatever. Well, it's not working. My toilet keeps getting mildew-y and nasty. But because of the chemicals in the pellet thing, I'm not sure what to use to clean it? I mean, there's still pellet thing in the tank, you know? Normally I'd use the seventh generation toilet cleaner or just vinegar if it was bad enough that I could see gunk in there, but I'm sort of afraid to do that. Ideas?

if you dont have any packaging for it anymore and it doesnt work well, i would scoop it out and flush the toilet a few times to get the tank rinsed out.
then i would clean it how you want to.

those pellet things never work for me either.

I agree, scoop the pellet out and start all over.

I personally love cleaning my toilet with Bon Ami- it's cheap, non-toxic, and works super well, even with our well water/mineral deposit/rust issues.

I'd scoop out the old cleaning tab and use your regular cleaner. If you're worried about the chemicals, give it a day or two before using a new cleaner.

I also find a good soak overnight with borax really helps - esp. if it's prone to getting slightly mildewey and such. I'll do that more often (re. 1 or 2x/month) when I haven't been able to do reguarly weekly cleaning.

... and maybe after going back to your usual swish&swipe train your husband to be able to do it. In other words: don't repeat my mistakes, I've been married for 12 years and consider it a success when the toilet is flushed with the lid closed.

I'd remove the pellet and clean it once with bleach really well, and then just get back to the regular method of cleaning.

Maybe stupid question but where can you find the Bon Ami?
