Definitely speak with an attorney as soon as you can. Each state has different laws on things, but for example, a friend of mine just got through a divorce in Indiana. During the entire process (which was allowed to drag on for 2 years) they had 50/50 custody and he still had to pay child support AND maintenance of over $700 a month. That was started up almost immediately after the papers were filed. I know other states aren't as generous, but it's certainly worth asking about! Also call the local school district, they almost always know of all the local programs for assistance and often have someone employed just to deal with that. I have to agree though, you're in treatment for about another what, 6 months or so? And he can't be decent enough to wait that long before bailing. Not the best reflection on his character right now. ((Hugs and good luck!))

She is supposed to place a call in to his lawyer to find out what his intentions are but I didn't hear anything today. I'm the type of person who wants things done NOW, so this is pretty frustrating.
I'd like to be able to tell him that if he can't provide for his kids then I can't provide him with visitation time, but I'm sure it would backfire on me at some point.
