I just popped over to get her from dh and said "Hello, Hello Emily! " and she said...get this: "Heh Ro"

HA!

I don't care what anyone says, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO claiming it as her first word.

I'm heading to the gifted child forum right now!

So what are your geniuses up to?

I know! No such luck and dh is a rotten witness! Totally unreliable.

Well, not quite as impressive, but my genius has his brothers and sisters wrapped around his little finger! Yesterday he had his 15 year old sister just walking back and forth, from side to side for an entire ten minutes. All he had to do was to maintain eye contact with her. Sort of like those snakes that hypmotise you with their eyes. I am sure he was deliberately toying with her; and she fell right into his trap.

Oh my genius is very communicative! She talks to me just before our night time nursing, in bed with the lights dimmed, looking into my eyes, making more different kinds of noises than at any other times of the day! Also when her Daddy is holding her and she wants milk, she tells him in a completely different kind of cry than when she's in MY arms. It's kinda like this:

With Daddy: (polite, plaintive fussy wail) "Excuse me, but you don't have boobs. Would you mind fetching the boobed one? Much obliged."

With Me: (pissed, angry fussing) "Excuse me, but how DARE you not have a boob shoved in my mouth this very second?! You are a NAUGHTY mummy and you'd better get on with it or else!"

My brilliant child opted to pop out the baby acne on the same day we started out gentian violet treatment...making him a spotted grape!

( eta: I particularly like this because now I have heard your voice and I always think babies with Engish accents are hysterical! when dh does Emily in his scottish accent I am in stitches.)

I remembered this thread when Eden starting nodding. I asked her a question one day and it looked like she nodded yes, so I asked another and another. She always nodded yes, so the questions got more ridiculous. Then, my 3 year old caught on and started asking funny questions too. That kept us laughing an hour or so.

But, I swear she does nod yes when asked questions. I WILL get that on tape soon.

When dh came home, he asked Edelweiss how her day was and she said "Goo."

Ben totally did this today! And his dad heard it, too. He's 4 and a half weeks, and I'm totally claiming it too, lol.

I say, "Hi" and "Hello" to him all the time, and this morning he was smiling at me and I would say Hi and he would say "Haaa" and I would say Hello and he would say, "He-go".

how awesome! love these!

the closest i can claim is i asked him if he was hungry and he sighed, but it almost sound like a "yeah" - and i am sticking to that story even though DH thinks i'm losing it! LOL

When Ben wakes up crying from a nap or whatever, sometimes I say, "Honey, I just heard Ben say his first sentence! 'Daaaad, come and get meeeee!'"

I know Hudson's as genius-y as his sister...
We play the tounge game with him. He's an expert at it. (stick out your tounge and he'll stick out his)
He also coos and gurgles in response to my questions and musings.
And this morning when I was holding him, he was patting me on the back, just like how he likes it. Cute cute cute. I mean genius genius genius.
