Thanks! Yes, the birth made the paper (and used it to raise awareness about our state's laws). Here it is:

WOW Is all I can say that brought tears to my eyes! She is beautiful and sounds like she was in a hurry. What a great job you and your husband did (he sounded so cute on the 911 call) That is one heck of a story for her when she gets older. Enjoy your baby! Big brother sure looks like he is in love with her already, so cute!

Wow!

I am in Huntsville, too. And I am planning to drive to TN to birth, but I am only going to Fayetteville, so it is not quite as far. I have had dreams about having the baby in the car!

Congratuations!

Good luck mama!

We hadn't planned to drive to TN in labor. I was trying to avoid that, haha. We were going to stay in a hotel from around 38 weeks on, but she came at 37.

Fayetteville was still too far for this birth, we never made it to the TN state line. Heck, we barely made it out of Huntsville before we turned around and starting heading back.

I really don't know what to do if there is a next time.

hahah - omg that made me laugh! What stupid questions they were asking! Your hubby is so cute! He sounded so calm until "Oh yeah, she's out!" Thats so great that they gave you the tape, what a special birth!

What was the deal with the cord?

I live in Huntsville too! One of the reasons we decided not to have anymore children is because our only option is to drive to TN or have a hospital both. I would like to avoid both if possible.

The cord was off .5 seconds after she was out. I took it off, it was only loosely wrapped, he just hadn't noticed yet. She also actually came out before he noticed too. When he asked if any part of the baby is visible, I said, "I don't know" and checked and felt her head. Then, I tried (unsuccessfully to take my underwear off) and she was completely out. Took me a couple seconds to fish her out of my underwear

Wow! All these women from Huntsville! Do I know any of you?

I know a midwife near Huntsville. PM me, cuz you would probably be better off birthing at home with her next time! Congrats, and your hubby was an excellent birth helper!

That is SO cool. What a great story.

Did that make anyone else want to have a baby in a car? LOL! Sounds way better than my last hospital birth.

We were joking at the hospital afterwards that we thought we'd start a fad since it was a pretty easy labor (which I think was largely just the contrast with my son's birth and what had me thinking until the end that I was still in early labor). The nurses at the hospital didn't really like our joke

Great story/video. I love that he just kept driving. Even the dispatcher kid of giggled and said "yes, pull over!" Not only delivered in a car, a MOVING car.

Now you know what moms says to put on clean undies - in case your baby pops out in them!

Best wishes and congrats!!!

Hahaha, he is a pretty calm guy. I've always joked that if he got his arm cut off, he'd call me and let me ramble on about my day before telling me he was missing a limb. And then he'd go back to work.
