serging a sweater together?

I am about to finish a sweater i have been knitting for myself and am wondering if I could use my serger toput it together. Has anyone done this? I don't want the serger to cut the sweater, I can disengage the knife and I used it once to repair a pair of ds' wool pants so I am thinking it is possible.

I am sure you can- but I would not. I like my seams to match perfectly- and I think that if I tried to sew it by machine it would likely not match perfectly. Seaming is a pain- but so neccessary for a perfect finished product.
