removing adenoids in 1 year old

I am really on the fence about this and would like some advice. DD just turned 1 last week. She saw an ENT yesterday because she frequently wakes at night, snores very loudly and appears to have difficulty breathing through her nose when she sleeps. He said her adenoids are enlarged and he recommends removing them. According to the ENT, not removing them can result in frequent infections, behavior problems (from disrupted sleep) and discomfort. She will not grow into them until puberty. BTW, his only assessment was based on a 10 second feel in her mouth. She seems so young and I am not sure what to do. Any advice or thoughts is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried removing foods from your/her diet? My DS had enlarged adenoids and snored extremely loudly (as in, we didn't use a baby monitor with him). Our ped said he wasn't going to do anything with them until we had his food intolerances all figured out. As soon as we removed the offending foods, he stopped snoring. Same with my DD2. Not to say that fixes everyone's snoring/adenoid issue, but I'd at least try it before surgery.

When did the issues begin? Have you recently introduced cow's milk? Or is she on dairy formula? Have you tried eliminating dairy (and soy) completely? Those are most common allergens/intolerances.

Corn and wheat are next culprits. But, I'd bet $100 it is dairy related.

Btw, do you have/had any mercury (silver amalgam) fillings in your teeth? Any history of antibiotics during pregnancy or birth? Steroids for allergies/asthma yourself?
