Should we still swaddle?

My son is four months and breaks out of his large kiddopotamus swaddle 50% of the time. I tried not swaddling and he woke up every 1-2 hours. With swaddling he does one 3-4 hour and then up every 1-2 hours. But if I stopped might he get used to it and then do better?

I'd still swaddle at that age.
Many Moms make their own larger swaddlers if they have a real chunky monkey.

I swaddled ds until he was just over 7 months. I made my own swaddlers out of twin bed sheets cut in half and I secure my swaddle with a scarf that I use the tie around the arms really quite tight so they can't wriggle free and choke themselves. I started with one arm out swaddling at about 6 months. Follow your kids needs. Sure, lots of them can wean off it at 4 months, but lots of them need more time, too. Some of them just like it.

I know lots of adults that prefer to be tucked in SUPER tight in bed at night.

We swaddled til 7 months as well. She slept far better. I eventually used a light fabric tablecloth. Worked great and when we finally weaned her from swaddling, she took to it immediately, so it was obvious that she was ready.

ok thanks for the feedback. I really think he still needs the swaddle so I'll keep it up.
