Might my four month old sleep better in disposables?

We finally found a cloth solution to get us through the night with no leaks but my son wakes up every 20 min to an hour after 2 am sometimes he'll soothe back to sleep and usually every 2 hours he'll nurse (7-8 to bed, nurse at 12, 230, 4:30; 6:30 wake up= not enough sleep!!!!)

Could this be him feeling wet? other cloth diapered babies are sleeping, right?
will also post in night time parenting....

what cloth option gets you through the night?
I don't think this is the problem though. Actually I dont see this as a problem anymore, I used to panic about it. A lot of nursing babies wake up. as Dr. Sears says, they know whats good. My little guy wakes on the same schedule pretty much but goes right back to sleep. It doesnt worry me anymore, it used to though.

Just keep nursing him back to sleep, it is much easier if he sleeps with you.

We used disposables at night with both kids and they had a similar schedule at night. One pretty good stretch and then wake every hour until morning. But if you want to put your mind at ease you could always buy a very small package or borrow some from a friend and see if that changes anything.

Try some and see? It's probably just that he needs his milk then, but it MIGHT be because he's wet, you never know. Give it a go and see what happens.

DS wakes up all night long to nurse (every couple of hours) but then goes back to sleep. If he's not happy about his diaper, he won't sleep until I change it (like when he poops quietly and I don't catch it ).

I always just changed DS's diaper any time he woke up and it was wet. If I didn't he would be restless the rest of the night.

Okay thanks for the reality check. It is helpful to hear that babies just do things (but so tempting to search for reasons!) maybe I'll try a disposable just to relieve my wondering. For the person who asked we are using a kiwi pie one size diaper with doubler and a gro baby cover and just in case a thin wool cover over that. Makes it 7-7 and he goes back to sleep much faster than when I change him.

Me too, except that usually DH changed the diaper while DS nursed much less wiggly that way. Sometimes he would wake up wet and not be particularly hungry/in need of nursing and would fall back to sleep almost as soon as someone changed him.

It kinda sounds more like the 4-month sleep regression than anything else, that was a really really hard stage for sleep for us, too.

That looks a lot like my dd's sleep schedule around that age.

You could also try a fleece liner as as the layer next to baby's skin. That would feel dryer.

My 4 mo. dd sleeps about like you describe, but:
we use the Bumgenius pockets and i don't change her all night. (i hope that doesn't sound like slack mommy, but when i DID try to change her she woke all the way up and screamed and it was harder to get her back to sleep)
she tends to not poop during the night, though. When i take off the diap in the morning, sometimes it's really heavy but the inside that's next to her skin is dry. The lining really keeps the moisture away from her, and those pockets are stuffed with both inserts.
for us, at this age, she's not waking b/c of diaper issues, she's waking to nurse. and nurse. and nurse.

Just thought I would add in, around 4mths was when my dd really stared trying to roll over, I think her brain was rapidly developing at that time so she was up and nursing ALOT...she did this through every "milestone". So for creeping, crawling, walking etc...if she was doing something new all bets were off on her sleeping well. She was at the all night snack bar!
