Why do I stink?

At least I think I smell....my armpits....you know, that musty, funky, underarm odor some get after they've been on a plane for HOURS!

I started coconut oil and ACV almost two months ago. I've had WONDERFUL results...really life changing.
My only complaint is that recently (like the last two/three weeks) I've started having underarm odor that's bothering me. I don't really know if anyone can smell; I'm terrified to ask (LOL) but the smell embarasses me.

I changed my deodrant because I thought maybe bodies can get used to one, but I still get the smell. Even got the prescription strength stuff...no sweating but still the smell.

My actual sweat (like after the gym) doesn't stink, my breath doesn't stink (from what I can tell)...no other part of me is eeking any odor.

Is this from the CO, ACV, diet change (though it's been REALLY clean) or...I dunno??
I always shower after the gym and in the morning. My armpit skin is normal...no visible sign of rash or fungus.

I'm starting to get anxiety about getting to close to people cause I'm worried they think I smell but are too nice to say anything.

Any thoughts? Suggestions?
Help!

I don't know if this will help, but I stink too! Not all the time, and I haven't quite figured out what triggers it. I'm not a big antipersperant user, but lately I've used some if I'm putting something on that I don't want to wash and I don't want to stink... (wool sweaters). I do have a feeling it's hormonal and or connected to what I eat.

Lol. I appreciate your commiseration! Seriously!

It's weird, huh? I mean, I get the odor on days when it doesn't seem like I should be sweating and some days I don't get it on some of the days I perspire profusely!

I can see it being hormone related. I was having some wildly up and down fluctations and now I've really leveld out. Think it could be my body adjusting to that?

I've noticed the same problem lately. It seems to be tied to my drinking coffee (it only happens on days I drink coffee, and it starts within an hour of drinking the coffee). To feed my coffee habit, I tell myself it's not bad enough that anyone notices.

Hmmm, that's something I didn't think about. I don't drink coffee often anymore (had to cut back on it), but I'll try to notice if this happens on coffee days.

What would coffee have in it to cause that reaction, do you think?

I always read my stinkiness as a sx of something: i.e. dehydration, illness, or too many sweeties I don't use deo anymore--primarily concern about ingredients while bfing--even the so called natural ones--and personally I get a bit smelly if I don't drink enough fluids OR if my immune system gets revved up to fight off germs my DC bring home OR if I am flat-out sick. Stink comes from bacteria, and if we are healthy and not eating a lot of sweet or processed foods, we should have a minimal smell.

Funny thing I've also noticed since going off deodorant, (when I happen to stink which doesn't appen too often as my dh tells me LOL) my right pit smells but my left barely ever does. I have NO idea why, but this is strange.

On days where I poof or I know I'm going to be extra sweaty or with people who don't love me, I use plain baking soda OR white vinegar to de-stink myself... contrary to what I thought, the vin smell does not linger.

As for a coffee connection, I wonder if you are dehydrated before drinking it and then coffee can exacerbate dehydration hence making you pong?

hth bit embarrassed right now.

Well, it may or may not mean anything, as everybody is an individual. But I DO know that unusually smelly BO can be a symptom of bromide toxicity. That has been my case. I'm supplementing with iodine to detox my bromide(that, and a huge portion of women in the US are iodine deficient anyway). I've gotten even smellier since starting to push bromide from my system. It's interesting that you note the onset of smelliness might coincide with the addition of coconut oil to your diet. I know that CO supports thyroid health, as does iodine. I don't know if there is a connection there or not. But it came to me that maybe you are detoxing. Bromides are pretty thick in our modern environment, taking place of iodine in our bodies. Also, a note on the coffee connection and stinkiness: Adrenal fatigue is one more thing linked with iodine deficiency. Adrenal fatigue is exacerbated by caffeine consumption. Maybe coffee can cause bromides to spike in our systems somehow, causing extra smelliness? Not really sure. I know coffee(which I love) tends to make me feel like crap. I'll have to see if I am smellier on the days that I break down and have to have some.

I have the same problem. It's more so in my right arm pit than my left

I've been wondering the same thing as to why I smell. In high school I NEVER wore deodorant and NEVER smelled. I played every sport in high school so i would seat a lot then too. I'm thinking it's got to do with toxic bodies???

::sigh:: I'm gonna have to cut out the coffee and see if I notice a difference because of it. I'm tellin you right now, I don't want to.

I upped my water intake these last couple weeks to see if it was dehydration and it didn't change anything.

Starting tomorrow morning (cause today warrants a cup) I promise to abstain from coffee for a minimum of one week.

I'm also looking further into bromides. I just haven't had the time lately. Will def research some more.

Here I go. :: puttin on my big girl pants:: Tomorrow. No coffee. For a <cringe> full week. EEK!

Wish me luck.

I was going to mention coffee too. Have you upped your consumption lately?

Ditto on the coffee cause for me. I notice an increase in b.o. when I drink it. I think the caffeine stimulates the sweat glands to produce more than normal.

Fun, fun!

Ok, I did good for three whole days with the whole no coffee thing. Phew! That was harder than I thought and I've only been a coffee drinker for less than a year....no wonder people who have to give it up throw a fit...I understand now!!

I didn't notice any major smell these last several days so I'll have to remember to check myself later today to see if my cup this morning made any difference.

I know that taking probiotics(either supplements, or just eating probiotic rich foods) seems to help my dh with his body odor a lot. When he doesn't take probiotics, he gets this unique smell that disappears. However, when he does take them regularly, I don't notice the smell as much.
