Freezer on top, freezer on bottom, or freezer on the side? - Page 2

be sure to measure your space before you shop...

and be sure to get an energy star model, whichever you choose.

I am a bottom-freezer lover too

I had our freezer-on-bottom-with-door when I was pregnant with twins and I never had any problems getting into it... The door opens and then there's a shelf at the top of the compartment and a big basket drawer on the bottom.

I have a top freezer. When we replace it I will have a bottom freezer (a drawer, not a door), and preferable french doors, but not necessarily. I can totally live without a water dispenser.

I must be the only person who likes a side-by-side. It's what I grew up with and what we've had in this house for seventeen years. I've had freezer on top when I rented and found they were so disorganized. I like a side-by-side because you have shelves and drawers like a fridge; it seems more organized.

We replaced our fridge this year and I considered a French door fridge. However, we need counter depth and have a strange sized space and we couldn't find a counter-depth French door fridge to fit.

I love my side by side Amana with a water and ice dispenser. It's a bit limited but I don't store a whole lot in it and don't buy big packaged foods (I shop 1 week at a time except frozen meats, which are 2-4 weeks worth). Easy enough to get to everything and see everything.

I love a bottom freezer! We had one in the last house, and in this house we have a top freezer...I hate it! When I was growing up, we had a side-by-side, and it always seemed that things got lost in there more frequently because it was narrow and deep. This was 25 years ago, though, so maybe they've improved since then. So yeah, my vote goes for bottom freezer.

i love our freezer-on-the-bottom fridge, but i hate that the kids can get into the freezer so easily-- ours has a swing door. when we replace our fridge (a long, long time from now hopefully; we bought our current one new just last year) i'll be opting for the pull-out drawer.

other than that, our fridge is a total plain-jane, no bells and whistles. single door on top, no water dispenser, and the ice maker is in the freezer with no dispenser for it either. works for me-- fewer things to break down on us. :-)
