Is it possible to pregnant and test negative at 12dpo?

Hey Ladies,

I am TTC #2 right now, and I've been pregnant 4 times, the first with our DD and then 3 early losses. With DD I tested positive (faint but clear) at 9dpo. With the subsequent pregnancies I tested positive by 8 or 9dpo (also very faint, but discernible). So, here I am now 12dpo and I think MAYBE there is a whisper of a line from a DollarTree test yesterday midmorning, and this morning with FMU. They both got dark enough to see without trouble after an hour (which I know doesn't make them positive.)

The DollarTree tests are sensitive to 20mIU - so is it possible that I am pregnant or not really likely? Are there people who still don't have a clear positive by 12dpo and get one later? I FEEL pregnant, I just hope I'm not crazy. Thoughts?

I got a - at 14DPO and + at 17DPO with my DS. Still hope!!! I hope you get your BFP!

Of course it's possible. I didn't get a + test with my first daughter until I was 6 weeks along--I had actually tested two weeks earlier and gotten a negative. Have you officially "missed" your period yet? If not, wait til you have, and test again. If you are (which I don't think, at only 12 DPO), and you're pretty sure you're pregnant, go get a blood test. If your doctor doesn't want to do it, check into urgent care clinics where you are--I discovered last month that I can walk into TexasMedClinic here and get a blood test for pregnancy for only $27. Might be worth it if you really think you are.

I didn't get a BFP with my DS until AF was almost 2 weeks late and then it was a faint one. Don't give up hope and til the ole hag shows.

Im now 11 weeks pregnant

theres no way anything would have shown up the day before and it took two days for it to get dark enough to see and dark enough for a first response digi to pick it up (15dpo) and two days after that before a CBE digi picked it up.

Ah, thank you ladies - I feel better. I don't want false hope, this is just new territory. Maeryn - my tests look about like that, so maybe they are positive!

I am taking progesterone for a short LP, so I won't get my period without stopping it, otherwise I would have the simple clue to tell me I'm not pregnant. I want to stop the progesterone if I'm not pregnant because a.)It makes me feel tired and bloated and spacey and b.) I will want to get started again on a new cycle, and it takes a couple days to get my period after I stop the Progesterone. We are using donor insemination with a known donor, so getting pregnant for us has some greater difficulties involved.

Soooo, that's that. I tried to get my OBGYN's office to give me a blood test yesterday morning (before I got that "maybe" line) to rule out pregnancy so I could stop taking the drugs. They said that I needed to wait a week before they could confidently rule out pregnancy with a blood test! Soooo. Yeah. If I test tomorrow and still get a faint line I will call them and insist.

I suggest getting a FRER as they are a bit more reliable

And do NOT worry about it signifying an unhealthy pregnancy... this ones a very healthy little tribble with a faint bfp at 13dpo... DD was a healthy one with a bfp at 6dpo!

Alas I am not pregnant. I actually got a blood test yesterday because I had some slight concerns about a possible ectopic pregnancy, and it came back negative. Soooo, back to the beginning again. I hope yours turns into a BFP Funny Face!
