Mossy Question

The guys just came an de-mossed the roof. I have a couple big piles of moss, mixed with cedar and fir needles, and whatever dirt lands on the roof. What can I do with it? Some ideas:

1. Spread it where it is - under a couple large rhododendrons that probably haven't had any compost added in 5 years.

2. Add it to my compost

3. Dry it (how?) and add it to potting soil - is roof moss different than peat moss?

Other suggestions welcome - it looks too rich to waste!

I would add it under the rhodedendruns. Moss grows where you put it, so I wouldn't add it to anything I didn't want to be mossy. It might cook off in the compost, but you can't be certain. Peat moss is actually boggy form of nutrient rich soil that is "mined" and doesn't really grow like regular green moss. So, yes, roof moss is different.
