helping daddy with naps

Thread Starter
My DH cares for our 22 mo old daughter 2 days a week. He is struggling with nap time. We never did CIO and she is not the best sleeper. When she was little he would carry her to sleep, which worked quite well. But now that she's almost two, strapping her into the ergo to sleep doesn't work. She doesn't associate a bottle with sleep, so that doesn't work. He's tried being quite, reading books, lying down - but she protests. Without physically restraining her (i.e. ergo or car drives) she'll fight nap time. DH is having a really hard time with it. Any suggestions?

It sounds like he has already tried a lot. What about rocking her maybe playing soothing music or even music he likes and if he sings at all quietly singing to her? Can he recreate her bedtime routine at all and see if that helps, or if nothing else does she fall asleep in the car?
I dont know if you do any TV time (for adults) but sometimes my husband has luck turning on a movie for himself and the kids climb up in his lap and fall asleep. Not the best thing in the world but sometimes its the only way he can get them to nap.
Good luck

DD is only one, but we have similar issues.
