DD weaned about 6 months ago, and my milk was completely dried up (couldn't express any from either breast) 5 months ago. Yesterday, I woke up with shooting pain in my right breast; it came and went throughout the day and is still there today. The pain feels just like it did when I had plugged ducts while nursing, so out of curiosity, I tried expressing last night and got this sticky, thick, golden looking milk from both breasts, but mostly from the right, so all of a sudden I'm lactating again, a little. In the breast that doesn't hurt, out of one of the ducts, I the milk was medium gray in appearance.
Today, I noticed that the pain was only slight but after eating some cheese, it worsened quite quickly. If this is dairy sensitivity, could it happen this quickly?
Also, DD's 4th birthday just happened, and I had such an emotional reaction to this. I miss nursing, and just feel like she's growing way too fast. So, I'm wondering if it being near her birthday has anything to do with this pain as well.
I've got a call into my gyne to have this checked out, but was wondering if anyone else has had something like this happen.
Thanks!
Shonda
