Questions about EPO & GBS testing

Thread Starter
So I have two questions.

With my last three I started taking EPO at 36 weeks to soften my cervix. It really worked and by the time I went into labor my cervix just "melted away like butter" as my midwife said. I was thinking about taking it again this time but I'm not sure how that works with twins. If I wait until 36 weeks then I may go into labor before I have taken it long enough to do any good and it I start before 36 weeks I'm afraid it will trigger labor. Anyone else taken it with their twins pregnancy?

OK and a GBS testing question. Normally the GBS test is given around 36 weeks. Will my Dr do it earlier since twins usually come earlier? I want to have time to start a probiotic regime to help me get a negative test (tested positive before and I don't want to have to do antibiotics again). I'll probably go ahead and start end of this week any way but wasn't sure when to expect the test.

I am not sure about EPO since I have never used that, but they tested me for GBS at 35 or 36 weeks, something like that. So for me, it was just the same as singleton.

Same here, they tested for GBS at my 36 week appointment. Which turned out to be a few hours before the babies were born. It might be a good idea to ask them to test you earlier if your goal is to have a negative test before you go into labor.

I remember thinking the same things just a couple weeks ago. EPO was a godsend with my singletons. So, I started it at 36 weeks, it didn't have time to do anything (and my twins were both transverse anyway). But it didn't hurt either.

GBS test was done at 36 weeks. My OB really didn't do anything differently for my twin pregnancy than he did with my singletons (besides more u/s). I do probiotics frequently though so I didn't have to worry about when to start.
