Dropping to one nap before 12 months?

Did anyone's LO do this? I think my DD is trying to drop her afternoon nap. She's 8 1/2 months, so this seems early to me. She is only taking a short cat nap in the afternoon now, and is going to sleep slightly earlier. (She normally has been going to sleep rather late, and now it's around 9:30-10pm) I always thought it was the morning nap that was dropped first.

Youngest dd sleeps very little (she's been down to 1 nap for a couple of months now :yawn)...whereas my other 2 kept a 2 nap schedule well into the second year (I think they both dropped to 1 nap around 15 months or so).
She's acting fine (not irritable) so I'm guessing it's fine! How about your lo? Is she acting ok? If so, then assume this is the amount of sleep her brain needs...

Well, most times it's really hard to get her to sleep...she fights it. Otherwise she's usually pretty happy. Sleep has always been an issue for us though. It's never been easy, and I often think it's just that I can't figure out what she needs. She's my first baby.

My son recently dropped to one long nap a day. He's 10 months. Sometimes he takes a short nap in the evening, but we're trying to put a stop to that as it makes him wired by bedtime.

Both of my kids acted like they wanted to drop to one nap at that age, but I insisted on 2 and they both got over the fighting pretty quikckly. DD1 is a sleep fighter and never napped easily, but she took 2 naps until I forced her to go to one at 15 months because going down at night was such a huge hassle. DD2 is still taing 2 naps at 13.5 months, and I don't see that ending soon.

Just keep with it! Worked for us!
