Have you spotted and STAYED pregnant?

Grrr...I absolutley HATE to be a downer...I'm still spotting this morning and it's getting more red. I started with brownish blood at 5am yesterday morning. By last night it had tapered off and I was feeling good about it. It's about the same consistancy, only when I wipe, not on my undies, but a little more red, then some more brown the next time. Is this totally a bad sign? Am I surely losing this little one because it's going reddish? This is torture. I hate it. I've never lost a baby before. I've always had super easy great pregnancies. This one has been crazy. I've been a lot more sick and now this. I just don't know what to think. Thanks mamas for listening to me vent!

i had some bright red spotting, really bad cramping and a sudden loss of symptoms one day a week and a half ago and i was sure that was the end for me. then it went away as quick as it came and now i feel totally sick and miserable and feel like everything is probably fine, so i guess some bright red bleeding is ok? i know it's stressful not knowing what will happen and i hope everything turns out ok for you.

Hang in there. It's VERY scary.

I know, I had some pretty big bright red spotting just past five weeks, it was SO SCARY, I was crying, upset, didn't get out of bed for a whole day, had follow-up blood work the next day which showed my hcg was still going up. Saw the heartbeat a week later.

Spotting can be a sign of low progesterone, a pregnancy that is doomed, or absolutely nothing at all. Sometimes the endometrium kind of evens itself out, losing some in the process.

If a blood test would set your mind at ease, call your doc or midwife or whomever to get a quantitative hcG test.

Oh, poor you. I just a day of bright red bleeding last week. I'm rH- so I wanted an ultrasound pretty quickly, and rhogam, but everything was fine, and the bleeding stopped (after it had stopped and started again). I think it's been a few days now, at least, long enough I've stopped worrying. It's so stressful, but hopefully it was just a burst blood vessel or something! Can you get in to see someone?

With my third daughter I had a lot of bleeding at six weeks (and was totally hysterical) and everything was fine.

At 8 weeks with my 2nd pg I had bright red bleeding...heavy with big golfball size clots (sorry of TMI) ran to ER and had u/s...all was fine...two weeks later same thing...he is now 2 and healthy.

This is my 3rd PG and at 7w I had bright red bleeding for a few hours and then brown spotting for over a week...I have a doppler and hear a hb...so far all seems fine...I am 9w

I just had brown spotting on Monday and was petrified. You must be really scared.

But like the others said, it could be nothing, or could be something. Just hang in there and hopefully it will stop! Take it easy and rest and drink some tea.

I spotted for a week and then it stopped and now I haven't spotted for a week and I'm definitely still pregnant. I spotted between weeks 6 and 7.

THANK YOU MAMAS for all your input! It's been such a roller coaster couple of days. I'm still spotting brownish blood. I'm having very mild cramps. I thought for sure this morning it was the beginning of the end, but now I"m not so sure. I'll just wait it out. I use a mw that lives over 4 hours away from me and I'm also very hands off and dont' do any blood work or u/s's. I'll just wait it out. My mw is coming to town to help another mom she delivered for a few months ago with a birth certificate, so she's going to stop in. I'm only 8w3d so not sure I'd be able to hear heart tones anyway, but I'm sure we'll try. My sil is about 3 weeks ahead of me and she had the same thing a couple of weeks ago and she's still fine, so that is what I'm hoping for. It's just a waiting game as of now. Thanks again for all of your input and I'll keep you posted!

I am right there with you. My bleeding has really slowed down and so have the cramps. I have yet to pass any clots or anything tissue like. My MW suggested a blood draw, but I am not able to do that right now. I don't really know what is going on.

How are you this morning?
I'm not spotting at all this morning. I woke to pee twice last night and there was nothing both times. I'm very hopeful now! My mw will be here tomorrow afternoon. I'll be 8w5d so hopeful we'll get lucky and hear heart tones with a doppler. We'll see

I'm still need a liner, but it is only brown blood now. No clots or anything yet. I'm really dragging my feet about going for a blood draw. Maybe after the weekend.

I am glad it stopped for you! You must feel relieved.

ETA: My friend that is due the same time as me had bright red blood last week. Turns out she has a sub-chorionic hematoma. She did end up passing large clots, but the baby is fine. I'm not so sure that is what I am experiencing though.

With DS I bled bright red blood for a few days at 9 weeks and he is a beautiful 16 month old now...I was a wreck, but I rested as much as I could (I was teaching at the time) and oh the doctor kept reminding me to stay hydrated....

For me - no.... anytime I bleed it usually is not good news. I have had 5 losses and they all started out with spotting- then bleeding. I know others have had no issues and had great outcomes, but that hasn't happened for me ever. The best way to see if things are ok is to get a blood hcg done and check the levels. Wish my outcome was better...but wanted to give you the other side of things. I would get a blood draw so you know if you need to worry or not...or maybe get on progesterone if you are low...

to both AmBam and Jazzmin.

I am going through something similar this pg after a m/c in November that started with spotting at 7 weeks that continued on and off for 3 weeks. I wanted to encourage those of you who can't or don't want to get tests or ultrasounds. I had my betas drawn this week and they were "inconclusive." Even though I had them checked, I still have no answers and have to just "wait and see." Both of you are in my thoughts and I am hoping for the best outcomes for all of us.

I just had some spotting when I went to the bathroom, thought of this thread, and came to read everyone's opinions.
Looking forward to updates, AmBam and Jazzmin.
I very conveniently have my first MW appointment today, so I will request having my HCG levels checked. I'm not cramping, and have no blood on my underwear, just a bit on TP. Hmmm, guess it's hard to talk about spotting without giving TMI!
I've never miscarried before, and spotting is super scary

Jazzmin, Sihaya and MommaMoo~ How are you this morning? Anything changed?
My mw is coming today. Not sure it will make much difference. Think it's too early for a heartbeat with a doppler and I won't do labs. I'm sure just seeing her will make me feel better though. I feel optimistic now.

Sending super sticky vibes to all of you. It is so stressful! Keep me posted!

When I went in for my appt, I was informed that the MW was delivering a baby, so I'd have to reschedule. When I told them about the spotting, though, a very nice and helpful RN came out to talk to me, and said that hopefully, it's just a busted capillary. She sent me for my OB panel, and I'm going back in at 5:30 to see the MW. I am continuing to have brown blood whenever I use the bathroom, though. I don't have any cramps and I still have a big appetite, so that's a little bit heartening.

I might have some helpful advice for my fellow spotters, though. I have a great book by Aviva Jill Romm, "The Natural Pregnancy Book." She has plenty of recommendations for threatened miscarriage:
Do NOT eat any foods straight out of the fridge. Also, no tropical foods, citrus, or salads (unless locally in season.)
Eat warm foods. Miso and chicken soups are good, as are hot cereals and root vegetables. Drink tea and room-temperature water. Continue eating that way until symptoms have been gone for a week.
Vitamin E can strengthen the placental attachment to the uterus. You can take up to 800 mg daily for up to three weeks, but don't exceed that because it can cause the placenta to become TOO attached.
Vitamin C taken in doses up to but not exceeding 1,000 mg per day can help, too.
