Hot weather baby wearing

So I live in Costa Rica in the central valley and it is HOT all year round. At the moment we are heading toward the rainy season and it is BRUTALLY hot by midday but still not raining to cool off...

I have 2 different styles of slings, a clippy carrier thing that is sort of like a snuggli but it doesn't splay the legs so much, and a moby style wrap that I made with a lighter weight jersey knit. Any and all of these work fine in the early morning or after a rain to carry dd, but in the midday sun (which we need to go walking in to pick up ds from school), I sweat like crazy with her against my chest and she breaks out in prickly heat rash.

Is there a carrier you would suggest for hot weather and us two very thick blooded ladies? At the moment we tend to use the stroller for the hot parts of the day, but this doesn't really work for us because the sidewalks are cracked and uneven if they exist at all (trhere are whole blocks that just have long grassy fields right up to the side of the road) which leaves me pushing a stroller and trying to hold my kindergartener's hand while walking down the side of a fairly busy street.

Any ideas?

Can we trade weather? I need a break from the negatives and the snow
I really don't know what to suggest. They have water/mesh slings? Would that be more breathable for you? I am thinking of getting some come summer time to try and also to sell. I think its a great idea to have hands free showering, lol

Do you carry on your back? it may still be hot, but might be a little cooler.

Hi Mama,
Ok... to some extent you are always going to be hot with a body pressed up against a body.
That said, a SW Connecta might be a perfect choice for you. It's the most comfortable carrier for me in our 100+ degree heat in Texas. Also, back carries are more comfortable in the heat than front carries for me... DD1 was happy either way.
Good luck!

She's only 6 weeks so I'm not comfortable putting her on my back yet, but I will when she is older and has better head control. I do think that will help.

hmmm mesh...Maybe I will see if I can get some mesh fabric to try...have you ever tried one? I was worried that the holes would make it uncomfortable for her to sit in, like they might make the tension uneven? It seemed okay for a quick shower or a dip in the pool, but for a 40-60 minute walk? Do you think it might hurt her skin or is that silly? Is there a style of mesh you would reccommend?

ETA: off to research this SW Connecta of which you speak.

and i agree that waiting a bit for back carries might be best for you.... Still I wore my DD2 in the carrier in a front carry in the 100+ degree heat this summer and was about as comfortable as I could be......

That's really cool...I love the sun shade thingy. That's really neat!

I wonder if they will ship internationally, or maybe I can get one delivered to my SIL who is coming in a couple months to visit.

Thanks!

MT for me. I live in houston and it is hot and humid for most of the year. MTs are pretty much what have saved my life.
