I am having a really hard time making this decision. I am currently about 12 days from my due date with baby #2, my beloved baby# 1 is 44.5 months(3y 8m). She stopped nursing at 37 months because my supply disappeared at 2 months in to the pregnancy. For the past two or three weeks she has started asking to nurse again two or three times a week. What do i do? Do we restart the nursing, and go through weaning again? Is it just a phase? ohhhh so many questions...

My DS did something similar after weaning. Chances are that if your DD weaned 7 months ago she'll have forgotten how to nurse. I let DS try to nurse a few times and he simply mouthed the breast, but didn't remember how to latch on (this was just a couple months after weaning). Your DD may just want the reassurance that she can nurse, not that she really wants to.

My son did this almost a year after he weaned. (Im nursing his little sister, he quit nursing 5 wks after she was born) He would try, and he figured out how to latch again after a few tries. It turned out he just wanted to know it was ok to nurse again and only tried for a week or two and has never asked again.

do you want her to tandem nurse with the new baby? if so, let her try nursing again.
if you don't want to tandem, then i don't see why you would want her to nurse for the next two weeks only.
also -- a little caution, if she does start nursing again starting now, get ready for an early labor. a 3 year old's nursing can really get you contracting... use with caution similar to a breastpump (or more so than a breastpump). my baby #2 came about 8 days early... i would give a fair share of credit to my human breastpump, who nursed every day except for when i was going into hard labor...
