Fever & very uncomfortable toddler-homeopathic question?

Ds came down w a fever at around noon today so I've been reading over past threads to remember what I can do naturally. I've done the oscillio in 3 doses every hour (just a few pellets) at a time, gave him some SA w liquid and tryed to cool him off w a cool washcloth. He's very uncomfortable, moaning because he is so hot. His temp has gone up to around 103 or a little more. He's slept twice and is now restless again on the couch. I wish I had some homeopathic things here but I don't and DH won't be home til around 8pm. I can ask him to bring something since WF is on the way back home. I've read the Ferrum Phos, Pulsatilla and the tissue salts are what some of you use. Which would be my best bet at this point? He seems flushed, irritable and not wanting to drink or eat. I have been giving him small sips of liquid w a little SA in it. Are the cool baths good or not-read that if fever meds are not used-don't do the cool bath? How many hours does a fever last w/o using meds? Anything else I could do? He won't take the garlic lemonade.
Thanks- I know there are a ton of threads out there on this subject. Ds is almost 3 1/2.

Fever is his body's way of fighting off the bug. It's a good thing iMO and only dangerous if it got really extreme, which is unlikely.
Homeopathic Belladonna works wonders for us. Especially if there is red cheeks or gums.
Good luck mama. Hope your LO is feeling better soon.

Poor little bub! i've always read and heard not to do cool baths-it makes the body work too hard to stay warm; you can get chilled very easily and quckly w/ a fever, especially a little one.

I've not had any luck with homeopathics when trying to help with fever. Fever is beneficial, and I will usually let it run as long as possible, but I will not hesitate to help my LOs out with a dose of motrin if they are obviously miserable. Especially when they won't drink anything or nurse. No appetite is ok for a day or so, but dehydration is serious w/ very small folks, and can develop so rapidly. I would consider giving him something, even if just a half dose, to bring it down a bit and get him hydrated if he still won't drink anything. Wonder if your little guy would try a popsicle? Or some sips of cold juice? That usually works with my kids.

I hope your LO feels better very soon!

Well, he slept for another hour and woke up so much better- I can hardly beleive it. Then he insisted on going w me to take the dog out. Since then he's literally been talking nonstop and his temp is down to 101. He is 100% better than this afternoon. I'm just praying that it doesn't turn around and get worse again. Thats what I hear has happened w alot of illness's. So this is the first time I have waited out a fever and I am so happy!! Although, he has not been sick often. Its been over a year that he was sick last. Anyways, the bad part of the fever lasted only around 7hrs.
Thanks to all the mamas on this site that have posted so much great info!!!

I'm back just to post that this has been the weirdest virus I have seen. Its Sunday and his temp is around 99.5 and doing much better. The fever has been going up and down for the past few days. The nights/afternoons have been the worst. Some nights he woke every half hour the entire night-restless and feeling horrible. The first night I did give him a little tylenol but it seemed he was more agitated than before. It was awful. The next day I gave him nothing but then on two other days(one day temp was close to 105) after his nap I broke down and gave him some motrin. Yesterday, was the worst after his nap- he was groggy, crying inconsolably, out of it, face flushed and I almost took him to the ER- I was so scared. His temp was only around 102.6 or more which was not even that high but he was in pain. I then gave him the Motrin and he was better in a short while. The temp just kept going up and down. When it was down he was acting his normal self n but then it would creep up again. He also has a little cough but so far its been pretty mild. I so hate giving him stuff to lower his temp but its so scary when they reach 105 or more and are looking/acting so bad.
I'm going to prepare myself and get some of the things that I should have had on hand-the homeopathic ones. I wonder why some kids have such high temps and others do not? My son is non vaxed, b/f for 3 yrs and eats an organic, healthy diet. He doesn't get sick often but the fevers seem to always
get way up when he has something. I need a real plan of action w the homeopathic remedies.

I can't give you any help with the homeopathy but from a basic nursing care standpoint to treat fever...

No bedclothes or only a thin sheet, minimal clothing and TEPID* sponging allowing the body to air dry will all help from a comfort POV

*body temperature water. If you put your hand in it and can't feel the temperature, it's good. If it feels hot or cold, it's not the right temperature.

Thanks for the tip about the water temp- that was very helpful. I totally forgot about the homeopathy thread that would have been very useful. I've been on there reading this afternoon.
