A MS legislative bill (HB 695) has passed the house which would make it illegal for midwives to practice in the state of MS unless they are Certified Nurse Midwives. Ultimately, homebirth would be illegal as CNM's are not allowed to attend homebirths in MS.
The bill is currently in the health and welfare committee. Please email and call all of these committee members and let them know if you oppose this as it should be a womans right to choose who attends your birth and where you give birth. It doesn't matter if you are from MS, they aren't asking!
