all natural Nap Mat

I'm in need of 4 nap mats for my home childcare and after searching stores and online I'm flabbergasted - as usual - that people think it's 'safe' to have children sleep on plastic! or worse, if there is a such thing...

so I'm thinking I'll just make my own. Although I can sew a straight'ish line, I'm not too crafty with a deadline...any ideas on how to do a really easy nap mat? And what kinds of materials to use as the filler so it'll be comfortable but not toxic?!

Great idea! I can't believe the stuff kids sleep on these days (and probably what I slept on for that matter when I was at day care!).

What about using second hand wool blankets and tufting them together like a quilt and sewing a quick little cotton-fleece slip-cover? Or, I know that futons are made of cotton batting layered upon itself. I think that you can pick that kind of quilt filler at any fabric store...

Just some prelim thoughts.

where would one find wool blankets? I know wool is perfect for kids - absorbs wetness - but what about washing it weekly? I just shrunk 2 of my favorite sweaters...it's a talent I wish I didn't possess...I can shrink anything!
