It Seems Like Breastfeeding Makes My DD Whinier

I have a 14 M.O. DD. She would prefer to breastfeed almost constantly (for comfort) if I left it up to her. I've tried different things with her schedule. I've noticed that the more I nurse her when she asks for it, the whinier and more difficult she becomes throughout the day.

What happens is, she'll ask to nurse at a random time and if I comply, then not 10 minutes after she has finished, she is begging to nurse again and trying to pull my shirt off. For most of the day. This makes me not want to nurse her at all.

I've tried just nursing her whenever she wants, wherever she wants and that is HELL. I'd just have to take my shirt and bra off and lay there all day and endure like 150 latch-ons.

My sister just weaned her 13 month old son. She said that he's been a lot less whiny and demanding this past week.

Hmmm. What do y'all think?

I'm kind of thinking the same way...if I weaned my tantrum-throwing 15 month old little monster, I'm sure I'd have to endure a month or two of tantrums until he figured out he was done (he is extremely strong-willed and persistant), but at least at that point there'd be no more tantrums because I said no...no more tantrums when I unlatch him...no more tantrums all night long because I don't want to nurse all night long.

Anyhow, my best advice is to try to limit it to a set number of times per day, consistent times like first thing in the morning, after breakfast, before naps, or whatever works for you (with flexibility of course if she gets hurt or is sick or whatever) so that she only expect nursing them. And maybe try nursing only in one specific place, preferably one that she doesn't see all day long (like maybe in the guest bedroom if you have one).
