crocheted waldorf doll cap help!!!!

I am trying to crochet a cap for my son's 16 in waldorf doll using a light blonde mohair yarn. This is my first time crocheting and something isn't working right. I followed the instructions from the Dancing Rain videos...had a pancake and started doing the half double, etc. but my pancake is not turning into a cap/bowl, but rather a scalloped pancake What am I doing wrong????

Hmmm.. Do you mean it's starting to ripple? If so, back off on the increases. If this isn't the problem, can you take a photo of it and post?

If you need to frog it ( take it apart) put it in the freezer for a couple of hours. This makes it easier to take apart. It also helps to take a smaller crochet hook and undo every stitch as you back up, to ease the tangling of the long, hairy fiber
