Conception with really low BBTs?

SO far, my temps range from 96.8-the highest of 97.4. This is in the first half of the cycle, My acupuncturist says that explains why I'm infertile. I've always been extremely cold and cold-intolerant, but was able to conceive in the dead of winter four years ago, but not sure what my temps were back then.

Any thoughts on low BBT's?

Yes, it is the main sign post for hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism left untreated will lead to infertility in many people. I was infertile for a long time (also not having periods at all) until I finally found a doc to treat my thyroid even though my levels were within the "normal" range. That range for normal is very big and some people need to be on the low end, so even when they are having issues, they still test with in normal. I am referring to the TSH levels. That is the Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, it tells how hard your thyroid is having to work to keep your levels up. So a high TSH shows an under active thyroid (because it's having to work really hard). I would highly recommend getting your levels checked and get the actual numbers, don't just take "it's normal" for an answer.

Do you have any other symptoms? Hair loss, increased body/facial hair, thinning eyebrows, fatigue, depression....... a google search will give you a more in depth look.

The first half of the cycle I conceived my son my temps ranged from 96.5 - 97.2 and that was in May, so not terribly cold. Now my pre-o temps are higher, but I sleep under a million blankets. So many factors affect our BBTs, I wouldn't use them alone to disgnose anything except O after sustained temp rise.

If you are temping orally it could be as simple as breathing with your mouth open when you sleep. Many women find temping vaginally to be much more reliable.

When switching from orally to vaginally my temps went from 96s/97s never topping 98s to 97s pre-O and 98s post-O

The only thing I changed was where I temped, so I imagine my temps orally still would have been in the 96 range pre-O and possibly even post-O for a few days this cycle.

Suzy, I agree that I wouldn't use it alone to diagnose anything, but it is a sign of hypothyroidism and combined with infertility, it's worth getting blood work done.
