I've been suffering with these for 7 years, since pregnancy with dd. I am not constipated. I know I don't drink enough water, so that's where I'll start. They've always been uncomfortable, but now they're really starting to hurt! Do I HAVE to get examined? I'm currently seeing dd's paediatrician for general health care, but I can't imagine letting him look at my poor behind. I just can't! I sit at a computer all day, but am otherwise very active. Anything I can do to help myself???

H's are awful.....I KNOW!
First of all up that water intake, perhaps increase your fiber. Even if you are not constipated, hard stools contribute to the problem. They should be soft and easy to pass (sorry if that sounds gross).
I always found this oil helpful when mine were bad

The botton line is that if you can manage them at home that's great...Going to see a doctor (and if you go you need to see a colon/rectal doc....same ones that do colonoscopies) may help, but they will offer you creams/ointments to start. I have found that natural things like the ones I listed work far better than anything i was ever prescribed. Then if it can't be managed, they will offer you solutions like rubber banding and as a last resort surgery. I tried EVERYTHING and ultimately ended up doing the surgery. While it was a terrible recovery, I was suffering terribly and would do it over again in a second. I have had very few minor flares since my surgery 3 yrs ago (and I had a baby during that time as well...that was my minor flare!)
