What order did you introduce foods?

My 13 mo old is currently on only brown rice, breast milk and some Nutramigen AA. I have been gluten/soy/dairy/corn free for several months, and taking supplements as recommended by my naturopath. When we began introducing foods about 6 moths, DD seemed to develop allergies to everything we gave her. Everything. So we elimated all solids, I went on the ED, and I started taking supps. The supps and/or her age seem to really make a difference! Now, she seems to be tolerating the brown rice, but I want to introduce something else so she doesn't get "overloaded" on it. But in doing some reading, I'm overwhelmed at all the different schools of thought about what to do next. (I know starting on grains is controversial, but I had two different docs telling me to do it and I didn't have a good alternative to suggest).

So...what would you try next? Carrots, sweet potatoes, summer squash, green peas, and green beans were the things she was having several months ago that she seemed to develop intolerances to.

And, I should add that she only seems to be at baseline most of the time, but I can't pinpoint any cause for her flairups. She just had a virus, and broke out severely, but other than that, I'm just chalking it up to environment. I don't know what else to do...doesn't have sals symptoms, etc.

So I guess its two questions...what should I introduce to her next, and is there anything else you would strongly recommend me cutting?

Thanks for your advice!

It's tough, isn't it? My DD has lots of intolerances and some allergies - no pattern that I can figure. I was going to suggest winter squash to you - like butternut, acorn, etc. Perhaps avocado would also be something to try. Great fats in that. If you are comfortable with grains millet is supposed to be not so allergenic. You could also consider meats if you're not veg - ground turkey is one not high on the allergen list.

My DD 10 mos is sensitive to ALL grains, dairy, eggs, peanuts, treenuts, beef, pork, fish all fruits but avocado and olives, and many vegs, but good with chicken, beans, greens (not spinach though), winter squash, avocado, sunflower seeds - so that's all I'm eating and she eats a variation on that plus lots of BM.

We're working with a naturopath and I also energy test/muscle test her for the foods I eat/she eats - that has really helped!

Good luck to you!

Every baby is so different. My son reacted to all the normal baby stuff except for rice. He has had his best luck with fruits. He's now eating breastmilk, cantaloupe, avocado, pears, banana, peeled grapes, chicken, pork, egg, spinach, broccoli, brown rice products, spelt (we buy the Berlin Bakery sourdough bread - just spelt and salt), and we are in the middle of a corn trial that is going great so far.

We try a new food every 4 days, but we've had a lot of fails. Most of them are mild fails, so we know that he is safe eating them, but he may break out.

Big fails for us have been beans, salmon and coconut.
