Wow, sometimes I want to just go somewhere else.
For the past two hours, my 6-year-old has 'flipped her switch' and is in a foul mood. Everything sets of a screaming fit, and she can scream. I can't give her everything she seems to need, which is everything, but if I ignore her she keeps upping the ante for attention, turning to physical violence when all else fails.
My 2-year-old is screaming over and over "I want my orange cup" but every time I give him his cup he throws it so I take it again. This has been going on for an hour or so, with 4 tries with the cup. Now the cup is away and he'll continue screaming for his orange cup for a good half hour or more before he stops. And my 8-year-old is an anxious kid already, and is just beside herself with all the chaos and crisis that is going on around her. She's starting to scream too: "can't you just give him his cup?!" "oh my GOD!"
This is not atypical, I'm afraid.
I try to do everything I can to maintain a calm environment...everything is tidy, food is prepared and presented nicely, lights are low, electronics off, pleasant conversation...
I don't know what we're going to do with a baby in April
