Beekeepers? I know your out there.

We are looking to get our first hive this year, a top bar hive.

I just want to know if any mama's do this, and how does it go with kids around.

My kids are excited and I am excited to teach them. Anyone know where to get kid sized bee suits?

There's a recent thread discussing bees in the country living/off the grid section, did you see it?

I haven't convinced DH we can try bees yet, he's still adapting to the 30 chickens in our yard. But maybe bees are in my future...I hope!

I'm doing the same thing right now and just went to bee school yesterday! Although most of the 500 people there didn't know a thing about top bar hives I did meet a couple of old timers that live near me and are willing to be mentors. I would definately suggest getting in touch with your local beekeeping organization and trying to meet others near you that can help you learn.

There were lots of vendors and I did notice a company called Dadant had child sized bee suits with them.
