Essential Oil Question

Thread Starter
I bought some sweet orange essential oil and am wondering why it has a warning label saying pregnant women should not use? Not pregnant, but am curious.

Thanks!

I think all eo's have to warn pregnant women.
I use sweet orange while pregnant and have a product for women that has it in there.
In my research, so eo is safe after the 1st tri.

I am pg & have used some EOs for most of the pg. I have Orange in a lg glass of water every morning (make sure your oil is ingestible).

Most oils do come with a warning for pg women. The companies just have to cover themselves.

I believe that's a "U. S. specialty" like the FDA quote on herbal infusions ("This product is not meant to treat ... la-diduh).
Essential oils (like many other plant-derived medications) can be very powerful so you need to know what you're doing. Depending on what you're using you could e. g. cause preterm contractions.

There are a couple of books out there. I like this one written by a German midwife: Ingeborg Stadelmann, Bewährte Aromamischungen - the English translation is Original IS Aroma Blends (the "IS" stands for the author's initials, in case you were wondering).
