For those of you with young toddlers who sleep through the night

I am curious how long your toddlers who sleep through the night actually sleep for? We are starting to night wean my 15 month old, but are afraid she might get hungry without nursing through until morning. She goes to bed around 7:30 and sleeps until about 6:30 or 7. What would be a realistic amount of time to expect a 15 month old to be able to go without eating?

less than that.
depends on the kid.
she'll show you.

My son was about 19 months old when he weaned entirely, and he night-weaned a bit before that. He sleeps for 9-11 hours and has a bedtime snack of yogurt. He normally eats first thing in the morning, but sometimes would rather play. He has a good appetite.
I think at 15 months he was down to two night nursings.

My 18 month old night weaned rather early, about 13-14 months though he will occasionally wake and nurse back to sleep. But that doesn't happen too often, maybe 2-3 x a month. Mostly he goes to bed around 9ish and sleeps until 7. He's been doing that for several months.

Dr Jay says to pick a 7 hour block of time and I think that sounds reasonable to start out with. If and when they can go longer they will.
That's just my theory though- my DD still nurses A LOT through the night and night-weaning was a bust for us. Good luck to you!!!

DS 1 nightweaned while I was pregnant. He goes from about 7pm to 7am, and has since he was about 8 months old. Not the norm, I'm sure, but he's happy with it.

Thanks everyone. We decided to give it a try last night, and things went really well I think. She woke up at 11 and 3, then not until 6:30. The first wake up was only about 10 minutes, and no real complaints. The second she would almost fall back to sleep then wake up again and be sad a bit. I ended up getting her some water and she was happy. It took 30 minutes for her to get back to sleep. I'm glad we went for it because I think she was ready. She was already sleeping 7 hrs the first half of the night, and I just couldn't take waking every 2 hrs that I was supposed to be sleeping.

DD nightweaned when she was 8 mths old. Since then she has slept for 12 hours (sometimes 12.5) straight.

It migth take some getting used to for your toddler if she's used to getting nutrition during the night - perhaps an extra snack before bedtime?

I don't think there is any way my almost 15 mo dd could go through a 7 or 8 hour stretch without eating. No WAY 12 hours. But she is a REALLY hungry little girl.
