We're finally microwave free! At first, dh missed it, but now he doesn't mind. He still uses one at work though.

I am known as the chef in our family, and when ever I visit I'm asked to prepare all of the meals. BUT...

I am microwave challenged! My parents eat almost every meal out of their massive (as in you could put a turkey in it) super microwave, and they are constantly teasing me that I am microwave challenged.

My mom was making rice crispy squares (in the microwave of course) and had to run and help my dad with something, and asked me to finish them. Well... they were a cemented scorched impossible mess when she returned, because I had no idea how to make them in the microwave!

Same with butter, my mother has a fit if I pull out a small pot to melt it, and used to demand I use the microwave instead. Three or four blown up sticks of butter later, she doesn't bug me! (I swear I don't do it on purpose!)

I just hate microwaves. I don't think they are all that harmful for reheating leftovers once in a while or what not, but I prefer the taste/texture of food reheated on the stove or in the oven.

I have a really nice built in microwave and never use it. For melting butter and coconut oil, I use my small Lodge cast iron butter melter on the stove. I reheat a lot of things on the stove, for water boiling use the tea kettle and i use my toaster oven ALL THE TIME. Definitely a good toaster oven makes a microwave unecessary!

We use it infrequently... mostly for defrosting things when we forget to take them out and sanitizing the sponge . We will reheat occasionally but I prefer to reheat on the stove.

and by the way, this is the tiny skillet I use for melting butter. It's awesome and clean up is SO easy!

Yes, we have a microwave, and use it too. I mostly cook on the oven, but DH and the kids love to use the microwave. I can not battle out everything, so I let it go.

I still use the microwave at work. I've no time in the morning to preheat my food, and too, I have no thermos to put it in.

We have one because my mother thought we should have one last time I was pregnant and feeling so sick - she thought it would make meals quickly for us. That was thoughtful of her.....but I've never trusted microwaves. We don't have ours in the kitchen - it is in our laundry room and we rarely use it.

voted other because we don't have a microwave, however we do use microwaves as guests at other people's homes. dh also uses the microwave at work. i know he wishes we still had a microwave but i told him i refuse to have one and we do fine without it.

I voted yes, but I use other means 99% of the time, if I'm heating up food. It's good for sponge sterilyzing and the timer. I've even gotten DH to reheat on the stove or toaster oven, instead of the microwave. However, he's another one that uses it for burritos! Can't convince him that burritos are real tasty from the oven...just not as quick as he wants. I need to get one of those rice packs, though... I can never find my electric heating pad.
