first night without my children

Dh suddenly separated from us on Jan 3 and I'm still in shock. My children are having their first overnight with him tonight. It will be my first time without my little ones. I've never even seen dh's apartment.

I remember when I used to dream of having a night to myself. Now it feels like such a sad occasion. I'm doing something with a friend this evening, but my heart won't be in it.

I dodged that bullet this weekend. He was pushing to take them, and I was going to let him, but then he let it go... Hugs to you. I know how upset I was just thinking about it!

I just went through the same thing. It is very tough. If at all possible I would try and do something for you during that time...take a bubble bath, read a book, have a glass of wine and some chocolate, watch a good movie etc. It is hard though to relax and enjoy yourself when you are missing your LOs. Just do the best that you can and I am sure as time goes by things will get easier. s

Fwiw I'm right there with you tonight. My stbx has the kids over tonight for their first sleepover. I'm at a total loss, as if I don't know what to do with myself.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm glad you will be with a friend. My best friend is coming over later this evening to watch some Olympics with me and just hang.

oh mama i remember that first night. even though i was ok with it and rather happy that dd was going to sleep with daddy and start that whole side of their relationship.

but oh boy it was sooooo hard. i remember i did not sleep that night AT ALL. no matter what i did that evening my heart was not in it. amazing how empty everything felt.
