There's no way to tell! Some women only take a month to get pregnant, some women take years.

And, after going off BC, it might take a few months to get your cycles back to normal.

GL!

you will not have problems TTC due to your age difference, no... however there are a bunch of other factors that can interfere with TTC so there's really no way to know.

I agree with MrsD and Mae...my DH is 8 years older than me and we had no problem getting pg bc of his age, but everyone is different. But you might have wonky AF's for a month or so. I wouldn't worry about it though if you are. GL!

Mae, why do you seem to go so fast to talking about problems? why not a bit more positive rather than freaking ladies out?

SaraBravo, since age is factor quicker for women than it is for men, in your case it should not be a issue, you are in your prime!

first thing is to get you stable after birth control and make sure your taking your prenatal vitamins and folic acid. it is very normal to have some random spotting as you come off BCP

is you would like some great reading i really recomend Taking Charge of Your Fertility
you will learn an amazing amount of things that will be good to know.

good luck, have a blast practicing!

What?

I said there is no way to know. Yes she could, she also couldn't. Who knows?

But the age difference WONT be a problem.

don't feel like getting into it, just been a handful of threads that you seem to say "well that's fine, however a bunch of other things could be wrong" when it did not seem applicable to what the person was talking about.
seems like positive thinking for someone that is just coming into this journey would be more supportive.

just imo

I agree with Adorkable..about everything. I think MORE positive thinking for this young lady is the only thing she needs. Not to put words into her mouth, but I believe that SaraBravo was talking about having trouble because of the BC and the age(bc that's the only thing she typed)...not of course about anything else...I'm pretty sure that we as women TTC know the possible up's and downs of the whole process.

We r just worried about the affects the mirena may have had on my fertility . I had it in for a little over 2 years. We had it removed feb 15th and af came but I'm still spotting and yesterday seemed more like a lite period and that's what we r most worried about. Not worried about age @ all. My 2 were concieved with my 1st husband with out trying and my dh's sons were concieved without tryuing with his 1st wife also. My dd is 3 ds is 2 and step ds's r 7&8. Does it sound like we will have trouble ovulating? Or at least prediciting early enough for our best odds at concieving.

Again, there's no way to know as each woman's body is different. You could bounce back super fast and get pregnant right away... or take up to a year to get regular. Mirena is a hormonal IUD so for the time its been in your body it has been pumping hormones into your system... so the biggest thing is how fast your individual body can bounce back from that. Many women get pregnant within just a couple months of getting Mirena out... others take considerably longer.

I do suggest getting a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility to learn more and good luck.

only commenting on the mirena. it produces a very small amt of progesterone only, and it is limited to the immediate area, not systemic. at insertion, it's releasing about 20 mcg of prog/day, at 5 years, it's down to 10 mcg. (to put that in perspective, one progesterone suppository has 200,000 mcg [200 mg].) it takes an avg of 4-6 wks to ovulate p removal (and most if not all women will continue to ovulate while it is in place, at least sporadically. the manufacturer is very clear that mirena does not work by suppressing ovulation.) of course, some women take longer to get back on a regular cycle, but that may or may not have anything to do with mirena and everything to do with all the other unknowns that were alluded to in pp. most women will have a little withdrawal bleeding from the removal of progesterone and start cycling after that. i bled for 2 days and ovulated 11 days after mine was removed. mirena manufacturer recommends for the avg user (not obviously, the temp taking, chart stalking, peeing on a stick fans like our gang) if you dont have af by 6 wks after removal, you take a hpt.

good luck. 23 is prime baby making age. i know 32 probably seems ancient, over the hill to you, but im willing to guess your dh's swimmers can still manage, with their canes and walkers, maybe a lil tiny scooter chair and all, to reach the egg.
