I had a stomach flu on Monday and my supply is still not back, i'm hardly producing any milk.

my dd is only 15 months and still gets 75% or more of her calories from bm...she is getting so frustrated...she will try to nurse and then bite. the past two nights it has taken me an hour and a half to get her to sleep because she gets so upset that there is no milk.

please help! i can't take the biting and my dd is so fussy...how can i get my milk back???

is it normal for supply to be this much affected by just one day of illness or could there be something else going on?

Is it possible you're pregnant? That's the only other suggestion I've got.

I'll be watching this thread b/c my 12 month old ds is feeling much the same way since I got pregnant and my milk started going the way of the dodo.

Hi liberal chick, congrats on your pregnancy!

I've taken 3 pg tests, lol, the last one was about an hour ago . Aside from my supply going down, i've had lots of spotting, exhaustion, terrible moods, and a funny stomach (which could be from the flu). My period is also late..i've only had one since I had dd in early jan so i know it's normal to take a while to get back to a period every month.

But all the tests were negative, so I'm thinking it must be from the stomach flu or PMS or something.

When I was nursing ds, my supply used to dip everytime I was about to get my period, so your PMS theory could be it. Also, I had the stomach flu last week and 3mo dd nursed and cried pretty constantly for the next three days. I drank TONS of water, and things seem better now. Oh, and sleeping a lot, thought not easy to orchestrate, can really help.

It sounds like you are still sick. Along with eating, drinking and resting you could try mothers milk tea, oatmeal, fenugreek.
