I have 5 week-old twins, and I would like to know what baby carrier would be best for carrying/soothing a fussy one (or both?) around the house. They are already 8.5+ lbs. and growing quickly, so something that would hold larger babies would be nice. I am leaning towards a ring sling (maya brand?) or pouch sling, but I need some advice! It can't be anything complicated and has to be a quick in and out type thing - I have two older children and no time to struggle with something complicated. I have a "Snugli" front/back carrier, but never used it much with my other kids. It's not imperative that I be able to carry both twins at once - just that I be able to put it on and get one in and out of it quickly - and that it be big enough to grow with them. Thanks!

People love the adjustability of ring slings, but I found pouches to be the simplest thing going. There's nothing to adjust. You put it on and stick the baby in it.
That said, I don't really find pouches (or even ring slings) that helpful for actually doing anything. They're okay if you just need to carry your baby around, but if you need to carry your baby around while doing chores, they don't work that well for me. I don't feel as "hands-free" in a pouch or a sling.
I really like stretchy wraps. They're not as simple as a pouch or sling to put on (until you get used to them), but you can pre-tie them and just keep them on, popping your baby in and out as needed.
A stretchy wrap's usefulness will top out at a certain weight limit, but mine is the single piece of baby gear I could not live without.

I perfer a fitted sling. The are super simple to sew yourself if you know someone who sews (as I'm sure you have no time to do it yourself with newborn twins
) I use mine from newborn on up. My 3yo still rides in one when he gets tired of walking. They are so simple to put on, just fold in half and put over your head and slip baby in.
I don't know if I don't use them right or what but ring slings always loosen as I wear them and I find that frusterating.

I think a hands free carrier will be more useful than a sling or pouch. I can get DD in her SSC (a Pikkolo) in 10 seconds. When she was tiny, it was easier to just put her over my shoulder than use a sling since either way you're one-handed.
This is a friend's blog with a twin bwing pic. She has cute little twin boys, #5 and 6 for her.
