Is there such a thing as a not-so-plastic baby gym?

My little guy has started to enjoy lying on his back and kicking his legs and looking up at interesting objects. I think he'd really like playing with a baby gym (is that what they're called? You know... arches that toys dangle off of?), but I don't want one made of nylon and neon-colored plastic.

Has anyone seen - or made, maybe? - a gym made with no/less plastic?

Thanks!

Ikea has a wood one. I think HABA has a nicer but much more expensive version of it as well.

I second the Ikea one. It's pretty cheap and looks nice in real life. I might get it for my new lo.

We have a Boppy "Entertain Me" (hate the name!) that is polyester/cotton with cotton stuffed toys. DS LOVES it. My mom bought it on ebay for $25, so you might consider checking there.

I third the Ikea one, my 13 month old still plays with it

We have an older Ikea one we got on Ebay. Maybe you could look there?

Like others have said, IKEA and Haba have nice, wooden ones.

If you are looking for something more like the standard activity gyms (mat with arches), I'd recommend the one from Skip Hop. We have it, and DS (7 mos) has loved it for the past four months or so. It is less "busy" than the other ones, doesn't have lights, and is very entertaining. The mat is made of an all-cotton fabric, though the fabric on the arches seems to be a little more nylon'y. (Not sure about that, but I think the arches themselves can't go in the washing machine, so that would make sense.) The mat and toys, though, are cotton.
