New here PLing with 1year old

Hi, my name is Holly & I am Mom to Jena 2/08/09, Noah 8/19/98 & Kirsten 3/13/91. We have been working on PLing with my 1year old (2/8/09) after her telling me poop for 4 days the pooping in her diaper. So far it is going well, and we have had great days and not so great ones, but I do feel she is progressing. However, i have a couple questions. If she has an miss on the floor she becomes super clingy after and I can tell she is upset about it, even after soothing her and telling her it is ok. Also She has times where even though I know she needs to go she will scream if I sit her on the potty, should I push this or let her up to have a miss? Also, today i bought her some of the padded panties, so far we have done naked, and she has wet every pair I put on, I finally took them off and she has went on the potty every time since, should I be persistent with the panties at this point or just continue with naked bum? TIA!

Hi Holly- Sometimes posts with more than one question take a little longer to get a response! Welcome to the forum, by the way!

If she protests the potty, then let her get off the potty and have a miss. You could try distracting her with toys and/or singing or something, but if she flat out refuses (my dd flat out refused a LOT) then that should be respected. And if the panties aren't working, then don't push it. Some things work for some babes, and the same thing doesn't work for another one. (I don't need to tell you this, you have 3 kids!!) As for her being upset with misses, that will probably pass, and is a good time to talk about going in the potty (while you're soothing her, of course!)

My son started refusing to sit on the potty but will pee standing up. I know that's not much help for a girl. Maybe she would sit with you on the toilet or pee in arms? You could try throwing a prefold under her when she starts to pee & maybe she'll figure out it's better to go there then just on the floor?
You could try some naked bum time & panty or diaper time depending on your mood.

That reminded me, my dd loved to pee standing up, too! I searched for a potty or something where she could pee standing up! I just had to wait that stage out!

Thanks all! We took a break this weekend because we were out A LOT, and I thought it would be good for all of us because we were letting it stress us out, So we restarted this am, and she is having to readjust again to not being able to go freely because she is wearing a dipe. I know she is pretty young for pl, but she knows it is wrong to go on the floor and she knows she should go on the potty... oh and she never flat out refuses the potty just cries when you put her on but does well once you get something to distract her...
