I wouldn't call it an alkaline "diet" per se, but I do try and consume as many alkaline foods as possible (ie veggies!!) and minimize acid forming foods like sugar, dairy, and meats.
Fruits are also great! Sea veggies are very good for you and easy to add in tiny bits to dishes as well.
I'm always on the lookout for main dishes with lots of veggies in them like stir fries and such. My kids tend to like different things. DS will only do fruit smoothies with hidden veggies, but DD will eat some main dishes and also likes to dip veggies in things. I make raw foods dips that are creamy and good (and vegan).
I find simple is best in my house.
Try raw foods recipe books for ideas. I've also used a lot of macrobiotic recipes (that system talks a lot about keeping your body slightly alkaline at all times).
I do this for health reasons as well and I feel better after only a few days of keeping my diet as alkaline as possible. It's totally worth it (and delicious).
